Home Worship Guide for Sunday May 3, 2020

We have put together this Home Worship Guide to lead us into gathered prayer and worship as a church while we remain scattered physically. Whether you are by yourself, with your family, or with a friend, please take time to glorify God together in this way.

Call to Worship:

Read Psalm 33:1-5 & 20-22 aloud and together:

Shout for joy in the LORD, O you righteous!
Praise befits the upright.
Give thanks to the LORD with the lyre;
make melody to him with the harp of ten strings!
Sing to him a new song;
play skillfully on the strings, with loud shouts.
For the word of the LORD is upright,
and all his work is done in faithfulness.
He loves righteousness and justice;
the earth is full of the steadfast love of the LORD…

Our soul waits for the LORD;
He is our help and our shield.
For our heart is glad in him,
because we trust in his holy name.
Let your steadfast love, O LORD, be upon us,
even as we hope in you.

Pray a prayer of surrender, humbly offering yourself to God. Ask Him to use the next few minutes of worship for His glory and your own joy.

Let’s worship Our God in song together!

Kids Songs:

Parents, each week we will include a song or two for the whole family. Take this opportunity to sing and dance with your kids, and worship God together as a family.

Scripture reading/questions:

Read Philippians 3:1-11

Ask these simple questions after reading:

  • What lies have you believed about what makes you valuable?
  • How does the good news of Jesus refute the lies, and invite you to know Him?
  • Begin to consider this: When this strange season is over and you get back to your daily routines, what can you never go back to? What did you count as gain that you need to count as loss?

For Families with Kids:

Discussion Questions

    • The Temptation of Christ can be found in Matthew 4:1-13 and Luke 4:1-13. Discuss each temptation and how Christ responds to the temptation with Scripture.
    • Discuss what temptations we can face and how we can resist. (James 4:7)
    • Be reminded in Hebrews 2:18 that as Christ was tempted, he is able to help us as we are being tempted.

Time of Prayer:

  • Adore. Spend a few moments lifting adoration to God in prayer. Praise Him for who He is and what He does.
  • Confess. Acknowledge your sin and confess it.
  • Thanksgiving. Thank Jesus for His salvation from your sin.
  • Supplication. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you live from your identity in Christ.

Join with each other in continuing to lift these request to God:

  • Wisdom for leaders all over the world
  • Safety and endurance for medical professionals
  • Healing and mercy for the sick
  • Peace for the fearful
  • Salvation for many

Share:

Let us know how God has impacted you the most through today’s worship. One great aspect of worshiping together on Sundays is the connections we make with others in the family of God.

  • To encourage connection, we want you to share with one another via social media, phone call, group text or some other method. The goal is just to connect with one another in some way.
  • Remember to tag Redemption Church if you post on social media.
